Configuring your email address in Ms Outlook 2007

Outlook is an email client designed by Microsoft, which will allow you to send and receive emails without having to log into your Webmail.

 

How to set up an email account on Outlook 2007?

 

Please follow these instructions to set up the email account on Outlook 2007

1. Open Outlook 2007
2. Click on Tools, located in the menu bar
3. Click on ‘Account Settings’
4. A new window will appear, under the Email Tab click on the New button
5. A new window will appear, asking you the following information
a. Your name – Please type in the name that you would like to appear on outgoing email.
b. Email address –This is the email address you are setting up e.g. admin@yourdomain.com
c. Password – This is your email account password
d. Retype password – Please retype your email account password
e. For the option ‘Manually configure server settings or additional server types’ – please make sure that this option has been ticked so that we can manually configure the settings
6. Click on ‘Next’
7. Please select the option Internet E-mail and click next to continue
8. Please enter the following details
a. User Information
i. Your name – Please type in the name that you would like to appear on outgoing emails.
ii. Email address –This is the email address you are setting up e.g. admin@yourdomain.com
b. Server Information
i. Account type – it will give you a drop down menu asking for the account type protocol please select IMAP as the account protocol if you wish to setup your email account on multiple devices or email clients or POP3 if not.
ii. Incoming Mail Server – mail.yourdomain.extension e.g mail.example.com
iii. Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) – mail.yourdomain.extension e.g mail.example.com
c. Login Information
i. Username — please type your email address.
ii. Password — please type in your email account password.
9. Please tick the option remember password
10. Please click on More Settings icon located on the bottom right of the window
11. A new window will appear, on this screen, please select the Outgoing Server tab
12. Once on the outgoing server tab please select the option “My Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication”
i. Select the option “Use same settings as my incoming mail server” and click OK
13. Please go to the “Advanced” tab and check the following:
i. Incoming mail port is: 143 or 110
ii. Outgoing mail server port is: 25 or 587
b. For the option “Use the following type of encrypted connections’ please select”
i. Incoming mail server : NONE
ii. Outgoing mail server: TLS
14. Click OK
15. Please click on Next button to continue
16. Please click on Finish to complete the set up.
17. You can now test these settings by sending yourself an email
